About Me

Peter Furstenberg

Hello, world! Well, that’s a good way to start most new things… whether its a programming language or new program. Well, this is in a way the same.  I’ve never chronicled my life before, but there’s no time like the present.

Who am I? My name’s Peter Furstenberg. I’m a born South African, coming from small beginnings, growing up in the West Rand with incredible parents and two equally talented siblings. I am currently living in Centurion with my life partner. I’m just a regular guy who happens to be gay.  I’m in no way more extraordinary than the person next to me, yet my life has been filled with an amazing journey thus far.

What do I do?

That’s a hard question to answer.  I am a freelance Multimedia Designer by trade. Most of my work is published under Shine Interactive.  I have a vast background in animation and motion graphics, as well as an extensive background in computer programming. Heck, I’ve started programming since the age of 7. My real strength lies in combining graphics and multimedia with programming, to create some amazing looking work. In my career, over nearly 20 years, I’ve had the privilege to work on some kick-ass projects.

I’ve had a long relationship with computers. One thing I’ve learned over the years is that computers make you lose a connection with humans and yourself pretty fast. So, in an attempt to get back in touch with fellow humans, I’ve developed an interest in holistic healing and massage therapy. It’s a big departure from an established career in graphics, but It’s grounding me and creating balance in my life. What better way is there to connect with people on such a personal level?

Adding to human interest, I am also pursuing my passion as a photographer. I have a keen interest in the male body and love the way it looks, feels and moves. I also specialise in portrait photography and packshot photography.

I have a massive passion for all things LEGO. I love creating my own creations and share them with the world. I also love sharing other people’s passion for the brick through BlockBlaze. A YouTube channel about adult fans of LEGO and their passion for the brick.

Why am I writing this blog?

Curiosity. An interest to share with others. The opportunity to help someone, somewhere.  There’s no real goal or agenda besides sharing what’s happening in my life, showing my work and passions.

Where’s the journey leading?

Good question.  So love it or hate it, join me on my journey.  I intend to talk from the heart about issues in my life as they happen. Sometimes I will share things from the past, other times I will share things I’ve learned. Whatever it is, I will make a commitment to share as often as I can, whatever it may be.

Through this journey, I am hoping to rediscover myself and my own identity in the process.  Talk about things that, as men, we don’t often talk about.
